Every year you have a couple weddings that you are REALLY, REALLY excited about. Marcia and John's was one of them. I first met Marcia years ago when I was doing fashion photography and she asked me to take some photos for her. I never dreamed that years later I would be taking her wedding photos! I was so honored when she asked me, knowing that between her owning a lifestyle modeling agency and being a model herself that she was well connected to many great photographers in the city. I found out later that that her husband-to-be actually had one of those beauty photos that I took of her on his bedside table (how sweet). I've always admired Marcia. She's a strong, dynamic and gorgeous women. So I have to admit, I was very curious to meet the man who stole her heart. Well, John did not disappoint and when I met him it was obvious that they were perfect for each other.

Marcia and John had a beautiful and stylish wedding from morning to night. Marcia looked stunning throughout the day in her designer Jason Matlo dress. Her beauty enhanced by the hair/make-up talent of Jayna. They had their first look at the bar in the Vancouver Club and shared a scotch...one of their favorite places (and activities) in the city. It was so adorable to see John so nervous. Darian from 'Young, Hip and Married' lead the ceremony and a cocktail reception followed. All taking place the Vancouver Club's chic Georgia room. Definitely one of the most elegant venues in city. DJ Leanne kept the good times flowing with her music and charismatic personality. Anna Elizabeth's cake was a focal piece of art in the room and way too pretty to eat. The lovely afternoon reception ended with an intimate sit down dinner with their immediate family.

The last exciting news about this wedding, is that it was our first WEDDING VIDEO!! We are so ecstatic to announce that we are now offering video! I love photography, but after having video at my wedding, I realized that video captures something different that photos cannot. I knew then that I wanted to offer video to my Blush Wedding Photography clients. Enjoy!

Kelly and Noah had such a wonderful wedding full of meaning, laughter and dancing. Their vintage travel theme was the perfect theme for their story. Vintage: because Kelly wore Noah's grandmother's vintage dress. It was so gorgeous and she didn't need to alter it one bit to fit her....it was meant to be. Travel: because Noah is from California, Kelly from Vancouver and they met in Spain. From there they traveled abroad and lived and worked in Korea together for a year. Kelly {discovering her DIY crafting ability} carried out the vintage travel theme decorating the False Creek Yacht Club (http://www.fcyc.com/) with vintage maps, postcards and globes. I added the romantic theme to their title because I think they have such a sweet and romantic story. Enhanced by the fact they met on February 18th, which happened to be Noah's parent's anniversary, and now it is Kelly and Noah's too.

There are two cute ideas from their wedding that I want to share. Instead of a 'Thank You' speech, they gave out engraved metals to their guests: first to R.S.V.P, longest married, traveled the furthest, etc. Also, if you have a talented group of friends as these guys do, you can have your friends play the violin for the walk down the aisle or sing the songs to the first dance and mother/father dance. It was such a special touch.

Kelly and Noah are coming over to my place to view the rest of the photos tonight. I can't wait to show them, there are so many great candid photos from their dynamic {and stylish) wedding guests.

Note: Kelly and Noah's romantic couple portraits were taken in the gorgeous Gastown venues Rogue http://www.roguewetbar.com/ and Steamworks http://www.steamworks.com/ Check them out for your next party!

P.S. The event coordinators for these locations, including the False Creek Yacht Club are SO WONDERFUL to work with!!

Here are Ryan and Cary's engagement shots taken in Mexico with Jose Villa and his talented crew (see vendor list Here). I love Cary's bright yellow dress, crazy striped shoes and the vibrant coloured balls in the trees. I know in our everyday life you might not wear that much colour, but Colour REALLY makes a difference in a shoot. Wardrobe, or a few select props, are always a guaranteed way to add some life and style to your shoot.

On a side note, Ryan is an amazing wedding photographer himself, go check out his work http://ryanrayphoto.com/!

In my very biased opinion, I think weddings photographers are the most skilled type of photographer. This is because we have to do ALL types of photography. Think about it, we do fashion and beauty photography with the bride and groom portraits, product photography with the décor and details, lifestyle photography during the engagement shoot, and landscape or architectural photography depending on the venue. This is another reason I LOVE wedding photography, because you get to do a little bit of everything.

My heart is definitely with wedding photography, but the training it has given me is perfect to do other little side jobs which are quite fun as well. Here are some screen shots of photos I did for White Lotus Beauty Salon’s website http://www.whitelotussalon.ca/. This boutique salon in Surrey is so stylish and the staff is so incredible, that I now trek from Gastown to Surrey to get my hair done there. Definitely worth the trip, go check them out !

Woke-up to the great news that we won another award! This time from Two Bright Lights. They said the selection process was based on the following:

"The 2012 Two Bright Lights Editors' Choice Awards...recognizes those whose number of published features in 2011 placed them among the top 5% of all Two Bright Lights members. Winners were published across many of the most respected lifestyle, wedding and other print and digital publications in the United States and worldwide.

The 2012 honorees reflect those that have demonstrated a superior quality of work for their customers...submitting their authentic, stunning imagery and services directly to the top industry publications and editors.

Among thousands of photographers and vendors competing for publication, the Editors' Choice winners represent the best-of-the-best."

Always feels great to be recognized for all your hard work. But I could have never received this award if it wasn't for all the wonderful brides and fabulous vendors I work with. They are the ones who make the weddings look so amazing and makes my job of taking fabulous photos that much easier. xoxoxo

We've been looking forward to Sandra and Justin's winter engagement shoot for quite sometime. I think we all pictured a fun idyllic day, with the sun shinning and white, fluffy snow lightly falling. Well, the fun part happened. However, instead to fluffy snow and sun, we had slushy rain and gray sky. But did that spoil the mood? Not for one second. Heck, me falling in a tree well didn't stop the good times. We shot as long as we could before the weather started to get the best of my camera and our frozen fingers and toes were about to fall off! (one too many 'and' )

Sandra asked for me to work my photoshop magic and "bedazzle" the photos with some of their favorite quotes. I went for a "Vintage Winter Wonderland Love Letter" theme.

With Valentines just a day away, I thought I would post this maternity shoot with a heart prop theme. For Betty and Andy's maternity shoot we did both traditional studio shots and a lifestyle session around Gastown with their cute, CUTE, dog. Although they didn't ask, I just couldn't resist crafting out and making a few fun props for their session. When Betty received the photos she sent me the nicest e-mail saying, "That I made one pregnant girl very happy." This is what makes me LOVE my job! Thank you so much for the sweet letter.
I can't wait to find out if they are having a boy or a girl...they are keeping it a surprise!

P.S. Can you find all the hearts in the shoot?

Answer: 18!
