Wow, we are so excited (and honestly shocked) to win Weddingbells Canadian Wedding Awards, ‘Best Photographer in Canada!” I still remember the days when I first started wedding photography and I hoped to one day grace the pages of this magazine. We were thrilled to have won their Top 25 most inspiring photographers in Canada a few times over the years, but to be recognized as Best Photographer in Canada, is a true honour. Thank you.
The biggest thank you goes to all our wonderful couples who have trusted our vision to capture one of the biggest days in their lives. We take this task so very seriously. You have all been so wonderful and because of you I honestly get to live my dreams doing what I love most. Wedding photography encompasses all my passions…I get to be creative, work on large events, incorporate my love of fashion and decor, but most importantly it’s meaningful. We are capturing family connections and moments that are priceless, while also helping to create images that couples dream of..turning their dreams into reality.
As part of the submission process to win this award, we had to submit a review from a past client, I’ve included it below.
We got married Oct. 2018 and choosing Blush was the easiest decision in our entire planning process. Thoroughly impressed after watching Kristy and Ken in action at a close friend's wedding, we knew Blush had something extraordinary and we wanted no one else when the time came for our own wedding.
Photography is the one item we did not want to compromise on and Blush did not disappoint. Our research included dozens of other highly recognized photographers, but no one else had a comparably beautiful portfolio. Indeed, after looking at other top portfolios that were either excessively saturated, excessively black-and-white, or excessively abstract for "art's" sake, it was a relief to come back and admire the genuine beauty of Blush's work. Stunning, gimmick-free photos are not easy to capture, and Blush's photos are a testament to Kristy and Ken's talent and dedication.
Of course, at this level of photography, excellent photos are to be expected. What sets Blush even further apart are Kristy and Ken's helpful and warm personalities. We usually don't take many photos, can get anxious around cameras, and weren't sure exactly where we wanted to shoot, but Kristy and Ken provided great recommendations and their instructions made us feel surprisingly comfortable and natural. We felt no pressure and it was as if we were spending time with good friends. Kristy was also incredibly prompt and helpful whenever we contacted her with a question.
Kristy and Ken shot both our engagement and wedding photos, and their friendly professionalism was a calming foundation that allowed us to relax and enjoy the process of getting married. We wanted a lot of direction and they could take charge and direct us as needed (while keeping everyone comfortable!), while allowing our guests to fully enjoy the wedding by remaining completely un-intrusive.
If you enjoy Blush's portfolio, do not hesitate. Having a great photographer is probably the single most important aspect of your wedding and it's extremely difficult to find photographers as authentic and wholesome as Kristy and Ken at Blush.
