If you are more a modern and unconventional bride looking for a wedding dress that is a little different, then Truvelle is your brand. Made in Gastown, my neighbourhood, these dresses are hand-made with care, love and a story.

I'm so exited to finally show you images from the Truvelle 2015 Lookbook. We had a lot of fun putting this lookbook together and a great team.

One of my favourite childhood memories was playing in the forest behind my house. Going on mini-adventures, playing hide-in-go-seek, building forts, and picking fresh berries. My forest is what Frasers Grandpa’s backyard was to him. As a child Fraser played in this AMAZING backyard where we did their engagement photos.

I have to admit, Fraser might have one-upped me…as my forest did not have a pond with a row boat, a pool or a mini cabin. This backyard is a child’s (or adults) dream and I’m so glad that Stephanie and Fraser shared it with us. But this time we played in big kids style. We got to drink wine in the row boat, Fraser’s very styling bike (which was definitely the coolest bike on the block) included a beer opener and Ken…well he was still playing with remote control toys getting some photos with the drone.

Cannot wait for Stephanie and Fraser’s wedding...and to be invited over for another play date.

Wendy and Hansen had their wedding at one of my favourite locations, the Hycroft Manor. I love it, not only because is classic and chic, but it's one of the only location where you can be outside, even if it's raining! The gorgeous covered patio kept us all dry while Wendy and Hansen said their 'I do's!" And then the rain went away just in time for us to take some portraits around Vancouver. All in all, it was a perfect day.... which you can see by the smile that never left Wendy's face for the whole day!

I love doing styled shoots. It's a chance to show our creativity and hopefully inspire brides with a new idea for their wedding. In our modern tropical shoot we wanted to play off the currently popular geometric theme, but soften in with some romantic elements. We also wanted to encourage couples to think outside the box for their venue. This Gastown studio with white brick had the exact modern/urban feel we wanted for this stylish modern wedding.

We were delighted that Ruffled blog featured this shoot.

Well, it’s not the cover of the Rolling Stones…but it’s probably as close as I’ll ever get, so I’ll take it!

Being a photographer and always on the other side of the lens, there are rarely any photos of me. You would think being married to a photographer I would have lots of photos, but it’s the classic story of the cobbler’s wife who has no shoes. This lack of photos was getting so bad that I found out many people in the wedding industry didn’t even know what I look like. Everyone knew the company, but no one knew me.

So this year, I made it my intention to post more photos! And boy did the universe help me out on this one. I received an e-mail from Langara College, where I went to photography school, asking if they could do a cover story on me since I was one of their successful past graduates. I didn’t think it was a big deal. I really didn’t think anyone would see the magazine except students on campus. Boy, was I wrong.

A couple weeks ago I started to get e-mails and text from friends and clients sending me photos of posters they saw downtown, on-line fb ads or that they received the magazine at home. I had no idea what I got myself into.

But the best part has been receiving so many e-mails and texts saying how much I have inspired them by following my dreams and turning them into a reality. Before I was a photographer, I was an elementary school teacher. One of the reasons I went into teaching was because I wanted to inspire people to following their dreams and give them the skills and confidence to do it. Then one day I decided to follow my dreams. It’s so touching to know that I am still inspiring others, while doing something I love so much.

Moral of the story: Make your intention to the universe (insert religious belief here) and take a step everyday closer to your dreams and one day your dreams will be your reality.

I just love Nicole and Junho’s wedding produced by the ever talented Count Down Events. It is romantic, elegant, and the custom dancing shoes motif on their stationary and dance floor gives it a twist of stylish chic, which reflects their personality. These two are gorgeous, sweet and super stylish.

However, my favourite moment was during the ceremony when Nicole teared-up saying her vows. I was so excited that we captured this moment with a single tear falling down her cheek!

We were thrilled that Wedluxe featured their wedding earlier this week. Check it out here: http://wedluxe.com/nicole-junho/

If you are one of my couples, you would have heard about how the First Look was my favourite part of my wedding. I just loved that moment of connecting and the feeling of starting the wedding day together. Over the years, we’ve seen some tear-jerker first looks, but we’ve never seen a more beautiful first look location than Vanessa and Jesse’s at Whytecliff. It looks like they are on the cliffs of Scotland….I admit, it might be Vanessa’s gorgeous red hair making me think that too. Either way, it’s stunning.

I’ve been lucky enough to shoot around the world and I have to say I think Italy is my favourite. It is just so effortlessly elegant and romantic. That is why when I heard KT Merry, Sandra Aberg and stylist Joy Proctor were doing a workshop in Ravello Italy, it didn’t me long to buy my plane ticket. Especially when I saw it was going to held at the five star resort Hotel Caruso. It got me thinking, you know you love your job when for your holidays you go to shoot more wedding inspired photos. This is only part one of the shoots from the fabulous Moda E Arte workshop, keep checking in to see more!
