Sun-flare, gorgeous scenery, beautiful couple in love, and one fine motorcycle...what more do you need.
Just two more sleeps and it's Simon and Cheryl's wedding! I can't wait, I think it's going to be a fun one!
I love doing styled shoots. It's a chance to show our creativity and hopefully inspire brides with a new idea for their wedding. In our modern tropical shoot we wanted to play off the currently popular geometric theme, but soften in with some romantic elements. We also wanted to encourage couples to think outside the box for their venue. This Gastown studio with white brick had the exact modern/urban feel we wanted for this stylish modern wedding.
We were delighted that Ruffled blog featured this shoot.

Well, it’s not the cover of the Rolling Stones…but it’s probably as close as I’ll ever get, so I’ll take it!
Being a photographer and always on the other side of the lens, there are rarely any photos of me. You would think being married to a photographer I would have lots of photos, but it’s the classic story of the cobbler’s wife who has no shoes. This lack of photos was getting so bad that I found out many people in the wedding industry didn’t even know what I look like. Everyone knew the company, but no one knew me.
So this year, I made it my intention to post more photos! And boy did the universe help me out on this one. I received an e-mail from Langara College, where I went to photography school, asking if they could do a cover story on me since I was one of their successful past graduates. I didn’t think it was a big deal. I really didn’t think anyone would see the magazine except students on campus. Boy, was I wrong.
A couple weeks ago I started to get e-mails and text from friends and clients sending me photos of posters they saw downtown, on-line fb ads or that they received the magazine at home. I had no idea what I got myself into.
But the best part has been receiving so many e-mails and texts saying how much I have inspired them by following my dreams and turning them into a reality. Before I was a photographer, I was an elementary school teacher. One of the reasons I went into teaching was because I wanted to inspire people to following their dreams and give them the skills and confidence to do it. Then one day I decided to follow my dreams. It’s so touching to know that I am still inspiring others, while doing something I love so much.
Moral of the story: Make your intention to the universe (insert religious belief here) and take a step everyday closer to your dreams and one day your dreams will be your reality.
I just love Nicole and Junho’s wedding produced by the ever talented Count Down Events. It is romantic, elegant, and the custom dancing shoes motif on their stationary and dance floor gives it a twist of stylish chic, which reflects their personality. These two are gorgeous, sweet and super stylish.
However, my favourite moment was during the ceremony when Nicole teared-up saying her vows. I was so excited that we captured this moment with a single tear falling down her cheek!
We were thrilled that Wedluxe featured their wedding earlier this week. Check it out here: http://wedluxe.com/nicole-junho/

If you are one of my couples, you would have heard about how the First Look was my favourite part of my wedding. I just loved that moment of connecting and the feeling of starting the wedding day together. Over the years, we’ve seen some tear-jerker first looks, but we’ve never seen a more beautiful first look location than Vanessa and Jesse’s at Whytecliff. It looks like they are on the cliffs of Scotland….I admit, it might be Vanessa’s gorgeous red hair making me think that too. Either way, it’s stunning.
I’ve been lucky enough to shoot around the world and I have to say I think Italy is my favourite. It is just so effortlessly elegant and romantic. That is why when I heard KT Merry, Sandra Aberg and stylist Joy Proctor were doing a workshop in Ravello Italy, it didn’t me long to buy my plane ticket. Especially when I saw it was going to held at the five star resort Hotel Caruso. It got me thinking, you know you love your job when for your holidays you go to shoot more wedding inspired photos. This is only part one of the shoots from the fabulous Moda E Arte workshop, keep checking in to see more!

For Nicole and Rob's engagement photos we went to the new Sea-to-Sky Gondala near Squamish. The view is amazing up there and really makes you appreciate the beauty of British Columbia. We also brought our 'drone' along and took pictures from an even higher vantage point! It was spectacular!
I truly believe less is more (…except when it comes to chocolate). This is why I absolutely love this morning bridal boudoir shoot styled by Joy Proctor in Italy at the Moda e Art Workshop. I love the quiet, reflective feel the bride has by herself before she enters the next stage of her life.
Now we all know, morning of the wedding day is rarely this quiet and peaceful. Usually there is last minute speech writing, lists are being checked and someone is searching for their earrings that they put in that ‘special place’.
That said, I still encourage my brides to plan and organize as much as they can, then a couple days before the wedding and stop. Trust they did a good job and put all the planning aside and enjoy the family and friends around them for this special occasion. And if they can, find some time for themselves.

We are so delighted that Real Wedding Magazine published Grant and Kim's wedding because they are two of the most warm-hearted and lovely people you could ever meet... and their wedding reflected just that. They had a beautiful, sun-filled wedding at Furry Creek, filled with touching moments. Before the wedding all bridesmaids prayed together, they had a groomsman sing and play guitar at their ceremony and they washed each others feet as part of their ceremony.
I had a great time with Grant and Kim as we raced around Furry Creek taking photos. I loved that Kim was in a gorgeous Vera Wang, but up for climbing over rocks and taking off her shoes and dipping her toes in water. And while we are talking about Kim….I think she has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Grant is one lucky guy to be able to look into those eyes for the rest of his life.
