It's no secret, I love decor. It's one of the many reasons that I love wedding photography, that it somewhat incorporates my love for interior design. I think it's fabulous that weddings are getting more creative these days and really showing off the couple's style and personality. I always say I love living the spectrum of life...meaning, I like to experience it all and I love so many different styles...that it was 100% impossible for me to order my favourite decor. Instead, these are all my top favourite wedding decor for 2015! I hope you find some inspiration!

Loved this organic twist of adding driftwood and succulent plants to this rose gold glamorous ballroom look. Also loved how the couple incorporated their love for food by naming the tables after spices!

So much love for this effortlessly timeless romantic wedding. I especially love the ceremony location in the woods under the trees with a harp, it felt so magical…I kept thinking a fairy would pop out at any time.

This organic Grecian wedding had so many cute little details that six squares was definitely not enough space. Calligraphy signs lining the aisle and a vintage truck photobooth filled with pillows we’re definitely some highlights…and just look at that bouquet!

Ok…I know I’m being such a tease here, but you are all going to have to wait till the next issue of Wedluxe to really see all these pretty details. But believe me, it will be worth it. Nothing was over looked or detailed spared in this gorgeous wedding!

A beautiful location is something that really inspires me…I feel it in my soul. And it’s funny, I’m never content just shooting a beautiful landscape, I always need people in it. This is why even on holidays, I never stop working...if there is a beautiful location, I need to photograph someone in it, asap!

Finding the perfect location for my couples is something I’m passionate about. If it’s a destination wedding it usually starts out with me doing a ton of internet research before we leave. Once in the country, then we go to check out these locations at different times of day to see what the light is like. It is time consuming…but it’s worth it. And when you love something, it’s not really work.

Looking at my top location picks for this year, I found it interesting that many of the picks might be my favourite, just because of all the investment time that went into finding the location or getting there. For example, location number #2 the waterfall in Bali, took a 7 hr taxi ride and 45min hike to reach. None of us were expecting how powerful the waterfall would be and how drenched in seconds we would all get. My lovely bride, Cindy, risked a dangerous climb onto this rock and sacrificed her very expensive dress, all to get that perfect shot. It was an adventure I don’t think any of us will forget.

For location #1 the Lone Tree at Lake Wanaka in New Zealand, my amazing bride Carly actually found this location when we starting discussing locations to shoot them in New Zealand. I did tons of research on this location before we got there. Was there really a tree in the water or was this photoshop magic? What will be the water levels the time of year we are going? How big is the tree? Is it strong enough to have someone sit on it? Do we need a permit? Luckily, when we got there the water levels were perfect and it was just strong enough to hold my tiny bride. What I didn’t expect was I would have to be IN the water past my waist shooting, just praying I didn’t drop a camera in the water…or trip. I do tend to trip a lot. But that brings up the adrenaline levels higher and made it that much more memorable.

So many memories from these photos that I (and I think our couples) will cherish for a lifetime, hope you enjoy!

2015 was such a wonderful year. From elopements via helicopters in New Zealand, to barefoot "I do's" in Mexico, to over the top lavish ballroom was non-stop beauty and beautiful moments. We did 40 weddings last year and on our last wedding on boxing day, I couldn't stop tearing up. Part might have been the pure exhaustion of our busy year...but it was mostly that I was filled with so much joy and appreciation that this was our job and how lucky we are. Being witness to such true love and beauty almost every weekend. Thank you to all our couple for choosing us to document their special day.

There are just too many wonderful moment and weddings to do a best of in the spirit of New Year's countdowns, all next week I'm going to do 'Best of... locations/dresses/moments/decor/etc" countdowns! It should be fun, so make sure to stop by!!!

They say if you love your job, you never work a day in your life. This is so true for us. Proof is the fact that even on our days off, guess what do we do? Get together with our favourite wedding vendors and 'work' some more creating wedding inspiration!

The mastermind behind this shoot was Heather from Chandelier Weddings. She does the most beautiful organic, timeless and natural floral and decor, you must check her out. She found an amazing pure bread sheep farm in the valley, the perfect backdrop for our outdoor shoot. The natural hair and make-up by Katie Elwood and Aisle Hair was perfect for the look we were going for. And I couldn't get enough of the stunning stationary by Hello Maurelle.

Days like this, playing and creating beauty with talented creatives is totally my idea of a good time. Yep, I really do work everyday...but I'm not complaining about it one bit!

I don’t even know where to start with this wedding and these two. It was such a special day and I’ve fallen in love with these two so much….mostly, because they have such a sweet and true love for each other. You will see pictures of a heart locket, I don’t know if they want me to share the story behind it, but let me just tell you, the story is the stuff they write romance novels and movies about. For real, it sends chills up your spine and makes you believe in true love.

The day was perfect and perfectly planned by Alicia Keats. In the morning the guys met for drinks and laughs at Hawksworth, as the girls got ready. Josh surprised Adela with a delivery of flowers. The ceremony was heartfelt with personal vows and roses given to their mothers. The portrait shoot was filled with lots of kisses, laughs and Zoolander looks. The reception started with a first dance, which was adorable to watch as Adela & Josh just laughed….you can see a theme, there was a lot of laughing at this wedding and the laughs did not stop here. From speeches to impromptu dance and song performances, we all got a good ab workout that day. And I can’t forget the delicious farm-style dinner by Savoury City. Food just tastes better when it’s past around and shared.

All in all, a perfect day.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. The Fall has always been one of my favourite seasons. It's still sunny, but there is a slight chill in the air...just enough to make new layered outfits. Time slows down a little, time to reflect. And best of's the beginning of holiday season! Time for parties with lots of yummy food and cocktails!

Here is a styled shoot produced by Erin from Sparkle media we did for Glitter Guide last year, inspired by all that is wonderful about Fall.

I've found one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots ever. It's not surprising it's on top of a mountain. I was so excited that Jessica and Phil wanted to do a helicopter engagement shoot and I think we were all awe struck by the beauty we discovered. It is a sunset I will never forget and I'm so happy I got to share and capture it with such a wonderful couple.

One of the best parts of my job is witnessing true love. I’m starting to consider myself quite the expert at identifying it and let me tell you, you can see in Stephanie and Glenn’s eyes every time they look at each other.

Their wedding planned by Count Down Events, was just as beautiful as their love. They had flowers galore, signature drinks, heartfelt speeches (they both have such wonderful families), scotch and cigar bar, yummy night treats, a live band and dancing all night. I loved how it was an elegant event, but still playful and completely unique with black draping and vibrant colours, it was like no wedding I’ve ever seen before.

Even though it rain…and I mean down poured on their wedding, it didn’t damping the day one bit. I’m just thankful Stephanie’s grandparents had such a nice covered courtyard to take pictures in…you can’t even tell it was raining can you?! That said, I was standing in the rain taking the pictures, so I must have looked like a soaked kitten….but we got the shots and that is all that’s important.

From the fairy tale worthy first look down the grand staircase, to dancing all night on that stunning custom dancefloor brought in from NY, Stephanie and Glenn’s wedding was one magical evening I don’t think anyone will ever forget.

Today, I’m sharing one of my favourite weddings. Not just because it’s beautiful and in Bali and we got to shoot with elephants and in rice fields…but because it is Ken’s brothers wedding!

Dee met Astrid while he was in Indonesia for work and it was love at first sight...literally. It’s easy to see Astrid is drop dead gorgeous, but she is also the sweetest person ever. No really. She called MY mom on Mother’s day before I did! That’s just how thoughtful she is. I’m so lucky to call her a sister and Dee is even lucky now to call her his wife.

Their wedding was not only beautiful, with the impeccable styling of Joy Proctor behind the scenes and the Baliness country as it’s backdrop. But it was so much fun! Yep, that’s my 75 yr old mom on the dance floor the whole night having the time of her life. And the icing on the cake was everyone, I mean everyone, no matter their age, how fancy their dress was, if they were holding on to a chair for dear life or an amazing planner who we loved for finding us the perfect villa and worked so hard to bring our vision to life …everyone got thrown into the pool. And then it became a pretty fun pool party… which then you couldn’t get my mom out of the pool.

There is something special about all weddings, but I have to say without a doubt villa weddings are my favourite. You spend so much time planning a wedding and it only lasts one day. Instead, with villa weddings, you spend almost a week together with your closest friend and family. Giving so many more opportunities to make memories. And trust me, the cost is the same (or sometimes less) than if it was a local wedding. If you are debating what to do for your wedding, look into getting a villa in Europe or Asia, you will not regret it!
