I have shot a lot of weddings (around 250) and Gloria and Zee's wedding has to be one of my favourites. I just love the elegant, fine art look. Not only was everything just drop dead gorgeous thanks to their dream team (see below), but it was so much fun! They had musical acts from their wedding party and family members...but the best was the surprise mash-up dance by Gloria and her dad!

We are over the moon to be featured on the prestigious Martha Stewart Weddings today!

This winter we spent 3 months between Bali & Thailand shooting destination weddings and we couldn’t be happier to end this memorable time with Janet & Nigel’s wedding at Baba Nest! They are two of the sweetest people you could meet and it’s so evident just how in love they are and what an amazing wedding they had by the non-stop smile on Janet’s face.

I also have to give a shout out their fabulous wedding party. The girls were always instantly in the perfect position or pose, without me saying a word, and the guys were VERY good sports through the door games activities!

Janet & Nigel plan a fabulous wedding, always with their guests enjoyment in mind. It was at a stunning resort called Baba Nest situated on the edge of cliff with the most beautiful sunsets. They had an incredible band, with the most talented & adorable lead singer…that I think they flew in from Australia (don’t quote me on that, but she is worth flying in from any corner of the globe). I didn’t know until editing the photos, that they also had a Donut Wall!!! I was shooting the ceremony details as Ken was covering the cocktail hour…a little jealous when I saw those photos, lol. But I have to admit I did love shooting the mountain of flowers IAMFLOWERS created for their breathtaking backdrop!!! They personality made luggage tags and acrylic name favours for their guests plus custom hangers for their wedding party and the cake topper (they now have a company doing this if you need any for your wedding..check out Woodie Design). And last but not least, at the end of the night they surprised their guests with a firework show!

It was a full day of activities, but it seemed to fly by, as everyone was so happy and lovely to be with. I wish these two all the best in the adventure together.

We are so excited to shoot the cover editorial for the recent issue of Real Weddings. It was shot at the stunning Hycroft Manor, one of our favourite wedding venues and we had a dream team to work with. Myrtle et Olive did styling and flowers, I just adore her fine art look. We had stationary from Written Word which is just a genius at what she does. Dresses from both Blush and Bisou, with a beautiful head piece by Jannie Baltzer. And the talented Vanessa from Nadia Albano Style Inc doing hair and make-up on the stunning Andee from Key models. And lets not forget this custom backdrop we got made from Urban Walls! I think it really made the cover pop and standout on the shelves. It was also so lovely working with the Real Weddings magazine team.

Here is a sneak peek of Nicole and Carson's wedding featured in the currently issue of Wedluxe magazine this month! I'll post more photos and tell you about their amazing day and vendor team very soon!!!

Our best 9 of 2017. This had a real impact on me and reminded me again of the power of a photograph. Between an ambitious work load, shooting in 10 countries and adjusting to the work/mom life... most of this year was quite a blur. And to be honest, maybe the one thing I remember is sitting in front of my computer with that stress feeling in my chest trying to get it all done (#realtalk).

But looking at these tiny little squares, I am instantly transported to these truly incredible moments and I remember the pure awe, joy and ‘pintch-me I can’t believe this is my life’ feeling.

1. London’s complete excitement seeing hot air ballon in Myanmar

2. Finding like-minded, live life to the fullest couples, who hired us to photograph them in Iceland & Myanmar (two bucket list places for me)

3. Exploring Bali with my family

4. Seeing one of my best friends elope on a mountain top

5. A fashion shoot in Turkey with hot air balloons at sunrise

6. A windy sunset in Venice, dancing in the streets and taking photos of London

7. Shooting an incredible wedding at one of my favourite venues, @hycroftuwcv

8. Going to Japan for blossom season to shoot engagement photos (another bucket list) and then spending our last day exploring and playing with our son

9. Having wonderful brides that are excited to climb into caves on their wedding day to get that great shot

Thanks to these photos, I remember why we work so hard and those memories of sitting in front of the computer quickly fade away. I’m just left feeling pretty grateful for such wonderful family, friends and couples who make our life full and truly exciting. Sending so much love to everyone we crossed paths with this year and wishing you all a wonderful 2018! #bestnine #greatful

This is a very special wedding, because it’s for one of my dear friends. I met Danielle when I first started out in fashion photography and needed a make-up artist. That was 10 years ago and we’ve been friends ever since….so much so she asked me to be a bridesmaid! So I was on double duty shooting and holding bouquets on this wedding!

And what a wedding it was! There were so many thoughtful details. Liam and Danielle’s dad built the wedding arbor together that they got married under. I love surprises, so I loved that Danielle pretended she wanted a photo outside under some lights (which turned out to be a great photo), just so we could sneak in Liam’s favorite musician for their first dance (look at his surprise expression)! And a first for me, was they did a Newfoundland Screech-in! This is how they welcome newcomers by kissing a cod fish and then doing a shot of run (called screech). Again, made for some fun photos! They have such a great group of friends and family, that everyone participated in the fun.

But my favouite photos are just of the two of them. Besides the fact they are both drop dead gorgeous, I just love how you can see how happy they make each other and how much they adore the other.

What can I say about these two, they are just absolutely fabulous in every way. I was so looking forward to photographing Jon & Bani in NY and the experience did not disappoint from beginning to end as these two were amazing hosts. They got us the sweetest apartment to stay just off of Central Park and came over the night we arrived for Indian take out and wine in the courtyard. This was perfect as it gave us a chance to get to know each other more and for me to fall in love with these two even more.

Engagement shoots are a great opportunity to capture who a couple is and what they enjoy doing together. Because let’s be honest, you don’t always walk around in a white dress and tux everyday, so it’s nice to get some photos of who you REALLY are. Some couples are outdoorsy and love hiking, so mountain top engagement shoots are perfect for them. Jon and Bani are very much a stylish, city-chic couple, so we planned a shoot in the amazing, iconic city of New York.

Jon also loves bikes & architecture, so the first morning we got some pretty sweet bikes and biked through the most gorgeous NY neighborhoods. The following day it was suppose to rain, but it held off enough for us to hit up some more classic NY spots and go-to neighborhoods including where Jon proposed. We had a lovely mid-day lunch break (and more wine of course) at a cute restaurant, perfect for some more photos. It felt like we were just hanging out with friends enjoying a great day in this vibrant city.

My favourite part about these photos is that you can see just how smitten these two are, by how they look at each other. These guys also nailed the wardrobe. If any of you are curious (as I was) Bani’s gorgeous dresses are by Self-Portrait . We are so looking forward to their wedding next year with Filosphi at the Vancouver Club.

Karla and Steve had a city chic wedding at Stanly Pavilion filled with so much love and tears -of laughter. The day seemed flawless…which is exactly what Karla looked in her Vera Wang dress.

Some of my favourite memories are of Karla’s bridesmaid who was still the life of the party, even though she was in crutches (from an accident at the stagette), the amazing impromptu singing, poems, and push-ups from the family, and honestly just all the laughter. I could have done a blog post of just laughs.

This wedding such a joy to document. Thank you Karla and Steve for having us be part of such a special day.

Hair & Make-up:

One shoot I look forward to every year is the Truvelle Lookbook. The mastermind behind this brand, Gaby, has such a keen eye and talent, to find the most unique backdrops to shoot her gorgeous gowns. This year shooting in Cappadocia, Turkey, did not disappoint.

Shooting hot air balloons at sunrise, walking in caves with camels, exploring ancient ruins and climbing on edges of cliffs, were just some of the stunning adventures we went on while shooting this lookbook.

Not to mention the fun we had off set location scouting, indulging in delicious local cuisine, learning the history of stunning part of the world, and the hot air balloon ride we went on before we left!

But what made this lookbook truly special was the killer team we had.

Well, this was an epic blog. But there were just too many photos full of love and beauty, I couldn't resist. I feel like there is nothing left for me to say, you can see it all. Lauren & Edgars are two of the most genuine and lovely people and they are blessed to be surrounded by just as lovely and genuine friends and family. They're wedding was everything you could have asked for. Gorgeous weather, great people, touching vows, quality speeches, lots of laughs and a few tears. The cherry on top was that it took place at their own family winery, the one and only, Painted Rock. I couldn't be happier for these two and it's been simply a treat getting to know them and document their love over this year.
