Summer Love: Sarah & Patrick

O.k…I’m not going to lie. I’ll admit that I’m a little jealous of my Californian photog colleagues who get this warm beautiful light in all their photos. To quote my first year photographer teacher, “Light is everything’. And it really is. I love the golden warm light, but we live in Canada…we just don’t get it. Until this week!!!! The light has arrived! I couldn’t be more ecstatic to have Sarah and Patrick to photograph in this beautiful light. Their engagement shoot (with a family shoot attached to it) was very last moment with no planning and everyone racing downtown after work to do it. But their shoot was one of those magical moments when everything came together perfectly. Sarah threw clothes in a bag and quickly changed on location, but she looked fabulous and couldn’t have planned a better outfit to match the soft glowing light with just the right punch of colour. Patrick was amazing and rolled with whatever idea I threw his way. Time was not on our side that day and I would have done anything to freeze that light and have more time to shoot Sarah and Patrick. But that is the charm of those rare magical days. All you can do is embrace it and make the most of every moment. Which we did, right down to the very last ray of golden summer light.
